On December 7, 2024, the children from our cultural and artistic society successfully performed at the 10th International Children’s Folklore Festival “Ethnofest” in Čačak. This prestigious event gathered numerous young dancers from Serbia and abroad, providing them with an opportunity to exchange experience and present traditional songs and dances from their region.

Our ensemble impressed the audience with a vibrant choreography and authentic costumes, showing how important it is to nurture tradition. In addition to the stage performances, children met their peers from other countries, made new friendships and gathered lovely memories.

We are thankful to the organisers for the warm welcome and the invitation to be a part of the lovely day dedicated to preserving cultural heritage. We look forward to future performances, and continue to promote Serbian folklore wherever we go.

On November 26, 2024, Cultural and Artistic Society “Gradimir” from Belgrade successfully showcased its tradition on an international stage as a guest of the “Abrašević” from Wettingen, Switzerland.

Around 50 of Gradimir’s members arrived in Zurich, where they were warmly welcomed from the Serbian Consulate General, led by Mihajlo Šaulić. The group toured the city and enjoyed an exciting boat ride on Lake Zurich, immersing themselves in the beauty of the city. After that, they had a joint rehearsal with other dancers, preparing for the upcoming folk dance competition.

A shared meal at Slavi Tomić’s restaurant brought the participants together, serving as a place to make new contacts. Nenad Milenković, the president of “Abrašević” , and the chairman at “The Association of Serbian Folklore of Switzerland”said:

“This event is proving that culture knows no borders - our mutual cooperation will remain a permanent connection between tradition and the talent of youth”.

With this trip, “Gradimir” once again affirms its commitment to preserving cultural heritage and fostering international exchange, inspiring future generations to nurture their tradition.

Cultural and Artistic Society “Gradimir” participated in the 14th Festival of Dance and Music “Zov Ravnice” (Call of the Plain), held between October 10 and 13, 2024, in front of the Promenada Shopping Centre in Novi Sad.

The audience was charmed by our First Ensemble’s performance of dances from Šumadija and Pirot regions. They truly showcased the beauty and richness of Serbian folk dances. Our folk orchestra, led by Slavko Mitrović Cale, contributed to the performance with its impressive musical interpretation of Šumadija Kolo.

Performing the song “Sude mi e vedro nebo”, our female vocal group stood out, delivering a heartfelt performance and adding a layer of authenticity and beauty to the traditional Serbian music.

We are thankful to the organisers, the “Veliko Kolo” Association, for the invitation and the opportunity to be part of this important event that celebrates and preserves folk culture and tradition. We look forward to future meetings and performances!

On October 19, 2024, Cultural and Artistic Society “Gradimir” had the honour of participating in the Fifth International Festival of Folk Ensembles for Veterans and Recreational Dancers “Kude je taj Niš” (Where is that Niš).

This prestigious festival gathered numerous folk ensembles which presented traditional dance and songs from different regions of Serbia and the world.

Our veterans’ ensemble performed a cheerful and energetic choreography “Male Vlaske” (“Little Vlach Dances”), which left a lasting impression on the audience. Our ensemble is very familiar with the fast-paced repertoire, as dance and singing are their passion and love. Everyone present enjoyed their choreography.

The festival was organised by Folk Dances Society “Teodora” from Niš. They were thrilled to host participants from different parts of the country. This festival is yet another example of commitment to preserving our cultural heritage, as well as an opportunity to socialize and exchange experience with other dancers.

Gradimir expresses gratitude to the organisers and all participants for the wonderful atmosphere and a friendly welcome.
